May 2021. Asia continued to dominate the world supply of natural rubber in 2020. The three largest natural rubber–producing countries in 2020 were Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam—all in Southeast Asia. Thailand is currently the largest producer, followed by Indonesia and Vietnam. Malaysia, which accounted for 32% of world production in 1988, has shifted its emphasis to other crops and nonagricultural investments and produced only 4% of the world total in 2020. Thailand has been the world's largest producer of natural rubber since 1993. Mainland China continues to be the largest consumer of natural rubber in the world, and uses most of its natural rubber to produce tires.
